MONDAY
Day One: God’s Sure Oath
Truth: Psalm 132: 11-18 says, “The LORD swore to David a sure oath from which he will not turn back: ‘One of the sons of your body I will set on your throne. If your sons keep my covenant and my testimonies that I shall teach them, their sons also forever shall sit on your throne.’ For the LORD has chosen Zion; he has desired it for his dwelling place: ‘This is my resting place forever; here I will dwell, for I have desired it. I will abundantly bless her provisions; I will satisfy her poor with bread. Her priests I will clothe with salvation, and her saints will shout for joy. There I will make a horn to sprout for David: I have prepared a lamp for my anointed. His enemies I will clothe with shame, but on him his crown will shine.’”
Sermon Point: God answers David’s plea by swearing His own sure and unbreakable oath, showing that He has not turned away His anointed but has fully honored him. The psalmist highlights that just as David longed to secure God’s special presence among His people, God now guarantees His covenant presence with absolute dependability. Whenever Scripture speaks of God making an oath, it signals the complete trustworthiness of His Word – He will not turn back from what He has promised.
Application: Pick one area where you feel anxious or unsure and find a specific promise of God from Scripture that speaks to it and then commit to memorizing it throughout the week — trust that His Word is more powerful than your circumstances.

- Thank God for the utter dependability of His Word!
- Pray that as a church, FM would stand strong in grace and peace, trusting in God’s Word, no matter what.
TUESDAY
Day Two: The Davidic Covenant
Truth: Psalm 132: 11-18 says, “The LORD swore to David a sure oath from which he will not turn back: ‘One of the sons of your body I will set on your throne. If your sons keep my covenant and my testimonies that I shall teach them, their sons also forever shall sit on your throne.’ For the LORD has chosen Zion; he has desired it for his dwelling place: ‘This is my resting place forever; here I will dwell, for I have desired it. I will abundantly bless her provisions; I will satisfy her poor with bread. Her priests I will clothe with salvation, and her saints will shout for joy. Sermon Point: David longed to build a permanent house for God, but in 2 Samuel 7 the Lord reversed the plan and promised instead to build David a lasting house – a dynasty. God declared that Solomon would build the temple and sit on David’s throne, yet the covenant stretched far beyond Solomon to an everlasting kingdom grounded entirely in God’s faithfulness. The promise pointed forward to a greater Son of David whose reign would never end. Gabriel’s announcement to Mary echoes this covenant almost word for word, revealing that Jesus is its complete and final fulfillment.
Application: Choose a current situation where you feel impatient or uncertain; practice daily trust by praying: “Your throne is established forever – Your plans for me are secure.”

- Pray that God would reshape our desires to conform to His plans rather than our own plans.
- Praise God for being a covenant-making and promise-keeping God!
WEDNESDAY
Day Three: Unconditional…or Not?
Truth: Psalm 132: 11-18 says, “The LORD swore to David a sure oath from which he will not turn back: ‘One of the sons of your body I will set on your throne. If your sons keep my covenant and my testimonies that I shall teach them, their sons also forever shall sit on your throne.’ For the LORD has chosen Zion; he has desired it for his dwelling place: ‘This is my resting place forever; here I will dwell, for I have desired it. I will abundantly bless her provisions; I will satisfy her poor with bread. Her priests I will clothe with salvation, and her saints will shout for joy. There I will make a horn to sprout for David: I have prepared a lamp for my anointed. His enemies I will clothe with shame, but on him his crown will shine.’”
Sermon Point: The Davidic covenant was unconditional, yet Scripture also calls David’s sons to obedience, revealing a tension Israel’s kings consistently failed to resolve. The psalmist could only appeal to God’s faithfulness to David, trusting that God would keep His oath despite human failure. Jesus, the true Son of David, is the only one who perfectly fulfilled God’s covenant and secured an everlasting throne – not earthly, but heavenly. Just as the psalmist looked to God to remember David, we look to God to remember Jesus, whose finished work guarantees that God will be faithful to His promises to us forever.
Application: Choose a concrete step – confession, forgiveness, generosity, service – and do it as an act of worship, grounded in the security of Christ’s finished work on your behalf.
Kingdom Prayer Focus:
- Spend some time in repentance for not walking in the obedience we’ve been called to – and then praise God for mercy and grace to us in Christ.
- Pray that our strength and hope would never rest on ourselves but rather that it would rest fully on God and His unshakable rule and reign.
THURSDAY
Day Four: God’s Resting Place
Truth: Psalm 132: 11-18 says, “The LORD swore to David a sure oath from which he will not turn back: ‘One of the sons of your body I will set on your throne. If your sons keep my covenant and my testimonies that I shall teach them, their sons also forever shall sit on your throne.’ For the LORD has chosen Zion; he has desired it for his dwelling place: ‘This is my resting place forever; here I will dwell, for I have desired it. I will abundantly bless her provisions; I will satisfy her poor with bread. Her priests I will clothe with salvation, and her saints will shout for joy. There I will make a horn to sprout for David: I have prepared a lamp for my anointed. His enemies I will clothe with shame, but on him his crown will shine.’”
Sermon Point: Zion began as a physical stronghold and later became the site of the temple, the symbolic center of God’s presence, reign, and covenant blessing for Israel. In the New Testament, Zion takes on its fullest meaning in Jesus, whose reign is eternal and whose presence continues with us through the Holy Spirit. Because God now dwells in His people, the church has become His chosen resting place, the fulfillment of David’s longing for God’s nearness. This indwelling presence restores the true rest sin disrupted, making God our resting place even as He has made us His.
Application: Choose one distraction, habit, or sin that dulls your awareness of God’s presence, and take a step toward Christ by laying it down. Confess it, replace it, or set a boundary around it, so that your heart can rest more fully in Him.

- Praise God for restoring our rest in Him that sin disrupted.
- Pray that the knowledge of God’s presence with us would fill us with reverence, joy, humility, gratitude, and overflowing praise.
FRIDAY
Day Five: Provision and Assurance
Truth: Psalm 132: 11-18 says, “The LORD swore to David a sure oath from which he will not turn back: ‘One of the sons of your body I will set on your throne. If your sons keep my covenant and my testimonies that I shall teach them, their sons also forever shall sit on your throne.’ For the LORD has chosen Zion; he has desired it for his dwelling place: ‘This is my resting place forever; here I will dwell, for I have desired it. I will abundantly bless her provisions; I will satisfy her poor with bread. Her priests I will clothe with salvation, and her saints will shout for joy. There I will make a horn to sprout for David: I have prepared a lamp for my anointed. His enemies I will clothe with shame, but on him his crown will shine.’”
Sermon Point: God describes what it means for His people to be His resting place: He will abundantly provide for them, satisfy their deepest needs, clothe them with salvation, and fill them with joy. The psalmist’s “smaller” longings are surpassed by God’s greater gifts in Christ. The imagery of the horn, lamp, and anointing all point to Jesus – the powerful Savior, the Light of the World, and the true Anointed One – who fulfills every promise made to David. God will defeat every enemy of His King, and the shining crown of Christ shows His ever‑expanding, eternal reign for all who belong to His Kingdom.
Application: Choose a person or situation where you often react in the flesh and intentionally respond (today and in the days to come) as someone saved and clothed in Christ’s righteousness – patient, humble, truthful, and hopeful.

- Praise God for grace upon grace upon grace to you – be specific!
- Pray that FM would be faithful to our calling – to share the Light of the World with all those we encounter in our everyday, ordinary lives – for God’s Glory Alone.
