Meet Our New Youth Team!

Kassie O’Connor, Intern

 Kassie

Kassie is from Flowery Branch, Georgia and is currently a student at Geneva College in the student ministry department.  Before attending Geneva, Kassie was at Gainsville State College and Brenau University in the musical theater department.  Kassie enjoys the arts, acting, painting, Just Dance, singing, texting, trampolines, and anything else that includes the word “adventure” and travel.   Kassie became a Christian at the age of 13, has a slightly irrational fear of sewage drains, and worked for MTV last year.  Her role as an intern in the youth ministry will be to focus on building relationships with the students, start and lead a girls Bible study, help lead the worship and create avenues for the students to express their faith through the arts.  She is super excited to be a part of the youth ministry team!

Dan Ottinger, Intern

Dan

Dan is a senior at Geneva College where he is majoring in business information systems.  He is newly married and enjoys playing sports and hanging out with kids.  Dan has spent the last three years as a Team Leader with Young Life Beaver County.  Dan is highly relational and enjoys reaching out to kids through sports, hanging out over pizza, playing video games, or anything else that will connect with kids.  His role as an intern is to build relationships with the students, work with the technical components of ministry, start and lead a guys Bible study, and share in the large group teaching.  Dan is thrilled to be a part of the student ministry at Four Mile.

Cory & Jen Miller, Directors

Millers_2

Cory has a degree in special education and has spent the past 15 years working as a teacher/counselor at Pressley Ridge with mentally ill juveniles and delinquents.  He enjoys sports of any kind, especially football, rugby and hockey- and has recently become the assistant coach for the Beaver County Badger’s Pee Wee team.  His high-energy and passion for Christ and youth are amazing, and he is excited at the privilege of helping Four Mile’s youth grow in their relationship with the Lord.

Jen Miller has two degrees in education and is a certified teacher.  She has spent the past 12 years working with the ROCK kids (5th & 6th graders) and helping with the youth at Four Mile, as well as being an advocate with CASA, a soccer coach and a Cub Scout den mom.   Jen plays soccer and loves to spend time doing anything physically active & fun, as well as reading and going out for ice cream.  Her style is highly relational, and she looks forward to building strong relationships with the students and leadership team.

Together, Cory and Jen are the directors of The Center in Midland and ROCK ministry.  Their role in youth ministry will be as leaders- their goal is to build a strong, committed, diverse leadership team to invest in the students and help them to mature as followers as Christ, equipped and empowered to live like Him in this world.

Our Mission

Aside from this team, there are countless adult volunteers who are committed to investing in the kids each week, and we are actively seeking more.  Our mission is to provide the students with opportunities to regularly celebrate God through amazing worship, fellowship and prayer; to actively connect with other students and adults who share a love for the Lord and will help them grow in their faith and stay on the right path; and to contribute to the work that God is doing in this world by serving on a ministry team and offering opportunities to serve beyond the walls of Four Mile.   We hope to equip and empower the students to live out their faith by providing Biblical truth and helping them discover how to apply this truth to their everyday lives, as well as helping them to build a vibrant and growing personal relationship with God.

Contact Us!

It is our belief that parents are the greatest spiritual leaders in a student’s life.  Therefore, we will strategically design ministry to be a bridge between the home and church and seek ways we can partner with you.  Please feel free to contact us at anytime with any questions, concerns, or ideas you may have.  Thank you so much for giving us this opportunity to walk alongside your family!

What is Crossfade?

Crossfade is the youth ministry at Four Mile Church. Its primary purpose is to create an environment for students in grades 7-12 to engage in Christ in a way that is real, powerful and life-changing. Because Crossfade is uniquely designed to relate to teenagers, this ministry helps youth develop an intimate and meaningful relationship with Christ in a way that has amazing impact.

The Crossfade leadership team takes every measure to provide a safe and family-oriented approach to engaging youth in community, worship and fellowship so that parents can rest easy while their teen learns and grows with Christ.  The curriculum has a special focus on learning God’s word to help prepare youth for the joys and challenges of the world around them.  This also equips them to be an ambassador for Christ within their generation, family, community and world.

Celebrate (Amped - Wednesdays 6:30pm - 8:30pm, Grades: 7-12th)

Amped is our weekly youth celebration where the youth meet for food, fellowship, fun activities, rockin' worship that includes relevant and in-depth messages.  This is also a great place to meet and spend time with friends! Amped is far from the typical "youth group" experience and definitely worth checking out.

Connect (Plugged - Sundays 9:15am - 10:15am, Grades: 7-10th)

Plugged is a more intimate smaller group setting for more in-depth biblical discussions.  Using a variety of topics that are of particular interest to youth, Plugged gives students an opportunity to be part of a more interactive study on God’s word and further relate the Word to their everyday lives. Plugged is located upstairs in the Crossfade youth loft.

Connect (Fuse – Sundays 9:00am - 10:45am, Grades 11-12th)

Fuse is an intimate setting designed especially for students in 11-12th grade to help prepare them to go out into the world. Each Sunday morning, students meet at the Turner's home for breakfast, bible study and fellowship.

Contribute

Crossfade serves the community with a variety of projects that help them learn about the importance of service and the impact they can have on the world around them.  Students participate in regularly scheduled seasonal service projects for those in need in the nearby community. They also have the opportunity to participate in a larger mission trip each year.  Finally, the Crossfade youth sponsors a compassion child named Raphael through Compassion International, a Christian child advocate organization.  This longitudinal service project gives students another perspective on service and giving as they raise funds and pray monthly for Raphael.  For more information on what the Crossfade youth is up to, please contact Cory or Jen Miller.
