Anvil - Men's Ministry

As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another. Proverbs 27:17

The Vision – Our men’s ministry, Anvil is uniquely designed to accomplish two major goals:

  1. Develop biblical character and leadership skills into the men of Four Mile.
  2. Connect men in community fellowship to each other and to faith in Jesus Christ.

The Strategy – Anvil is designed to provide men with opportunities to be connected with one another and God by using two different models for connecting:

“Triads or Quads” – Small groups of three to four men come together to meet either weekly for six months or bi-weekly for one year. During these meetings, the groups utilize 25 lessons found in Discipleship Essentials by Greg Ogden as a guide for fellowship and discussion. These sessions are designed to help men apply the lessons of the Bible to their own lives with the help, support, mutual accountability and confidentiality of their fellow Christian men. Upon completing the lessons, each man is then challenged to go out and repeat the process with two to three other men, multiplying the effect through the church. The facilitator of the group is one who has already been a member of a previous group. While he commits to the new group, he also stays connected to the men in his previous group for encouragement and prayer.

Special Events – At least three times per year, community oriented events are planned for men to connect with each other and God in a fun and relaxing way. Whether its “guy’s night out” where you might enjoy pizza and a game or a “pancake breakfast” where you can fill your stomach and refresh your spirit, these events are sure to be just what you need. They are opportunities to discuss relevant issues to men and enjoy being out with the guys. Events are even designed to be recreational so that men can invite friends to a non-threatening, low expectation environment. The goal of each event is to encourage men to take the next step of faith.

The next Anvil Event is a pancake breakfast on February 12th. To register, contact George Atkins at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
